Young Researchers Forum
As a run up to the main event, we extend a warm invitation to our students and postdoctoral fellows to make the most of the Young Researchers Forum(YRF). The YRF is a platform that allows young researchers to share their research and learn from one anotherin a supportive environment. This one-day event is organised by young researchers for young researchers in the broader Human Genetics community.
The YRF seeks to foster links between young researchers at institutions across the country, allowing them the opportunity to present and evaluate research, network, and explore collaborative and career opportunities. The YRF not only provides a forum to learn from one another, but also from invited senior scientists, who will share experiences of their research journeys.
The YRF will take the form of a mini conference, and will include sessions for oral and poster presentations, several invited talks, and information on career development. In closing, the YRF will host a social event to allow researchers to interact and revel in their time in Johannesburg.
The YRF is open to Masters and PhD students, as well as to postdoctoral fellows in their first three years of research. Research may be in any field related to Human Genetics.
Please note that researchers who wish to attend the YRF,must indicate this when applying to attend the main conference. This will ensure that your abstract is sent to both the YRF and SASHG Scientific organising committees. Researchers will be allowed to submit a different abstract for the YRF is they do not wish to use the same abstract submitted for the main conference.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the YRF organising committee through Jacqueline Frost, frost.jacqueline@gmail.com or (011)489-9225.
